5 Benefits of Buying Vintage

5 Benefits of Buying Vintage

Shopping vintage has quickly become one of my favourite past times. I’m obsessed with hitting up local vintage stores and browsing around to see what I can find. Beyond how fun it is to buy vintage, there are various tangible benefits...

Sustainability

I think this is kind of an obvious reason to buy vintage and it’s definitely becoming more of a widespread topic.  The "fast fashion/furniture" industry is one of the biggest polluters to our planet, so any time you choose to buy second hand it’s a positive step towards a more sustainable future. These items are already made and still perfectly good for your home.

Uniqueness

This is what draws me the most to buying vintage, the uniqueness. I love being able to find unique pieces that no one else will have and then work them in within my existing home decor. Especially in this social media era where everyone seems to be buying and using the same items! You can find some serious gems out there, and the best part is that it will be unique to you.

Quality

It’s no secret that older pieces were made much better than newer fast industry items, so it’s nice to get pieces that stand the test of time. These items are already over 2 decades old so you can really inspect them and see how they’ve held up.

Recycled Trends

What goes around comes around, right!? We all know that trends ALWAYS come back around again, and when you’re shopping vintage you may be able to pick out some pieces that are from another decade that are back in style now. Just keep your eyes peeled for certain elements that are on trend and you just may find a vintage version to add to your home.

History

Something that I always find fascinating about anything vintage or antique is thinking about what kind of life it had before. Who owned this item? What purpose did it serve for them? Did they love it as much as I do? It’s a nice feeling being able to give something older a brand new life.
